Confirmation Changes Everything

Today, the market reminded me of something far more important than support, resistance, or Fibonacci levels.

The dollar moved differently than I expected (based on earlier technical developments).

Years ago, I probably would have taken that personally. Today, I see it differently.

One trade doesn't define a trader. One analysis doesn't define an analyst. One outcome doesn't define a human being.

That's exactly why every Lab Note is built around scenarios, confirmation levels, and invalidation points… because a setup is not confirmation, a pattern is not a reality, and a chart doesn't owe us anything.

The goal was never to be right all the time. The goal is to stay open, stay objective, and adapt when the market shows new information.

The funny thing is that this lesson extends far beyond trading… People often do the same thing in everyday life. We judge ourselves based on one mistake. One bad decision, one difficult day, but a single moment can never tell the whole story.

You are not your last trade, you are not your last mistake, you are not your last prediction. And sometimes the most valuable thing we can do - both in trading and in life - is wait for confirmation before deciding what something really means.

Market Context

Just a few days ago, the charts were suggesting a very different path. Metals were showing signs of strength, while the dollar looked vulnerable. Then the market did what it often does best - it forced everyone to wait for confirmation.

And that's exactly why confirmation matters.

Over the last 24 hours, the dollar didn't just hold support. It reclaimed key resistance levels, closed important bearish gaps, and pushed back above the psychological 100 level. At the same time, gold, silver, platinum, and palladium opened with bearish gaps and started testing critical support zones.

Now, let's see what today's charts are trying to tell us.

U.S. Dollar Index (DX.F)

The dollar finally delivered the confirmation buyers had been waiting for.

Yesterday's rally not only pushed the index into the resistance zone we've been discussing for days, but also closed Monday's bearish gap. That show of strength attracted additional buyers, and today's Asian session opened with a bullish gap (99.86-100.09), pushing the greenback back above the psychological 100 level.

Even more importantly, the dollar is now trading above the March highs and the bearish gap from mid-March. If buyers can defend these gains and close the day above 100.36, the next upside target comes in near 100.80 where the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement of the entire decline that began in January is.

Platinum (PL.F)

Platinum also opened with a bearish gap (1738-1792), breaking below both the consolidation floor and Monday's bullish gap.

If sellers can secure a daily close below 1719, the path toward 1665 becomes much clearer.

Palladium (PA.F)

Palladium joined the rest of the metals as a bearish gap (1320-1363) became the first major resistance zone.

The next step is simple: today's close. A close below 1296 would put the double-bottom structure under serious pressure and increase the probability of a move toward 1250.

Today’s Takeaway

For U.S. Dollar

• Watch the 100.00-100.36 zone closely.
• Daily close above 100.36 -> opens the door toward 100.80.
• Failure to hold above 100 -> increases the odds of another pullback.
• Confirmation remains the key.

For Platinum

• Watch 1719.
• Daily close below 1719 -> opens the door toward 1665.
• Recovery above the gap -> reduces bearish pressure.
• No confirmation = no trade.

For Palladium

• Watch 1296.
• Daily close below 1296 -> increases odds of a move toward 1250.
• Recovery above the bearish gap -> improves bullish odds.
• Let the market confirm before making conclusions.

Stay sharp, stay patient, and don’t force trades in unclear conditions.
